A new report shows that on August 29th. T-Mobile is to offer micro SIM kits for users with unlocked iPhones.
This comes just after T-Mobile announced that it would be offering truly unlimited data plans starting September. This plan, in tandem with the soon-to-come micro SIM kit, could mean that owners of unlocked iPhones could have unlimited access to T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA network. Currently, the only network that supports the iPhone and has unlimited data is Sprint, but those on that network are limited to 3G speeds.
The information suggesting this Micro SIM kit is to be available on the 29th comes from a leaked employee memo (TmoNews) that states specifically that the 4G SIM Kit is compatible with the iPhone 4 and the 4S. Perhaps the most interesting twist on this whole ordeal is T-Mobile’s Android-centric lineup and additional leaked documents entitled “Selling against the iPhone.” Strange that the memo specifically references using unlocked iPhone’s on T-Mobile’s network, yet T-Mobile is so “against” the iPhone.
