A leaked picture of the iPhone 5’s logic board reveals that the device may have a brand new quad-core Apple A6 processor.
While many of the parts for the iPhone 5 have been seen (even the logic board in one occurrence), we haven’t quite seen the processor in this light before. Previously there was speculation that the iPhone 5 was going to use the A5X processor in the iPad 3 and that we would see the A6 in some kind of future Apple product (likely the next iteration of the iPad). These images, as you can see, reveal a processor with a bold “A6” silkscreened right on.
The introduction of the A6 processor would be somewhat of a milestone for Apple. Since the iPad, Apple’s newest processors marked the introduction of a new processor. Not to mention that an A6 processor would mean Apple’s first quad-core iPhone, and a massive power potential for the iPhone 5.
