iPhone 5’s Screen in Action Shown

The new iPhone is rumored to be large than that of previous models, escaping the 3.5” screen norm to step it up to a 4” screen. That brings about the question: what will stuff look like?

The new screen on the iPhone, according to numerous leaks, is going to be a taller 4” but will maintain the same width as its predecessor, meaning that the device with have a widescreen ratio. The screen’s rumored resolution is 1136×640 (326 ppi) so older apps are going to have to adapt to that. What will that look like? What about apps that aren’t updated? These questions may be present, but a new video by MacRumors gives us a prospective answer.

Existing applications that are not updated to take care of the new iPhone’s resolution may be letterboxed as to retain their original dimensions. This speculation makes sense; Apple is very design centric and automatically blowing up apps to fit the new screen size would stretch textures and could potentially make good looking apps look bloated and ugly. Of course, we imagine game developers will work hard to upgrade the textures of their games to fit the new screen.

Because of the 16:9 ratio on the screen, movies formatted to widescreen will show more information than previously possible.

Keep in mind all of the information in the video is speculative; none of it has any confirmation or official recognition. That being said, the video shows a very convincing model of what the new iPhone could look like.

Its fine but apple should think @ width of screen too. Then its overall bodylook as well as screenlook ratio will be maintained .
