Although Apple has lost some US market ground to Android, a survey says that the iPhone has kept a health 30 percent market share in the United States. The results of a 30,000 individual market survey by well known market research firm comScore that has been going on since July.  The results of the survey reveal that, when it comes to actual mobile phones (both smart and feature phones), Samsung is in the lead at 25.6 percent, followed by LG at 18.4 percent, and Apple in third at 16.3 percent. One thing to keep in mind when viewing these numbers is that both Samsung and LG make both smartphones and feature phones, where Apple only makes smartphones.

In terms of market share, Apple is making an impressive stand against the current US market leader Android. Android still controls 50 percent of the market as it has since late 2009, but since last quarters numbers Apple has jumped 2 percent putting the company at a healthy 33 percent of the US phone market.

One in three Americans currently hold an iPhone, but these number could change drastically as more and more handsets launch in the future – especially the iPhone 5.
