For the first time we get a chance to see the new iPhone’s battery next to its older sibling. The images come from Apple repair site iResQ (via Apple Informer). There is a stark difference in the size and stature of the batteries of the newest iPhone, coming September 12th, and that of the iPhone 4S. We have seen images of the purported battery for the iPhone 5, and we have known that it is larger, but this is one of the first clear images, and it comes with a comparison.

The battery is apparently a “perfect fit” with the previously leaked hardware for the iPhone 5. There looks to be plenty of room for the alleged logic board and other components as well. The side-by-side comparison between the iPhone 5 battery and iPhone 4S reveals that the next gen battery has an output of 5.45 watt-hours at 3.8 volts, just higher than the 5.3 watt-hours at 3.7 volts on the iPhone 4S.

This new larger battery for the iPhone 5, along with the new lower-profile screen, could mean even better battery life for Apple’s next iPhone.
