New reports from the supply chain appear to indicate that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is moving ever-so-close to the actual production cycle, as Pegatron Technology has supposedly made it clear that they have landed half of all the production orders for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.
The news comes courtesy of Digitimes, who is reporting that sources have indicated that the iPhone 6’s 4.7-inch model will begin production shortly to arrive in time for a mid-October release (the window of release has bounced around a bit but it appears that late September and early October is what most reports have centered on).
According to the DigiTimes article…
“Previously, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) was said to have landed all of Apple’s new 5.5-inch model orders and 70% of the 4.7-inch model’s orders. However, the latest development shows that the orders for the 4.7-inch models are split evenly between Pegatron and Foxconn.”
We still don’t have an exact time frame on when the 5.5-inch model is scheduled to release, but it looks like as time draws closer for Apple to make the announcement, more information will become available for the larger iPhone 6 phablet.
