iPhone pre-orders went live this morning on Apple’s website, but the traffic on the site is high and some users might have problems getting through. Fortunately, retail giant Wal-Mart is picking up the stragglers and offering iPhone preorders in store.

According to a report by Bloomberg today, Walmart started accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 5 today. The cost for the pre-order is $189 upon signing a two-year contract. That’s cheaper than the $199 price announced by Apple. Walmart is just one of the many retailers offering the iPhone 5. Of course it will be offered through carriers, but also the Apple store and Radio Shack have been confirmed to have the new iPhone.

Whether you preordered the device online, through Walmart, or if you plan on picking it up in person, we won’t see the iPhone 5 until September 21st. Of course, it really would be simpler to secure one now than wait in one of those long release lines.
