Apple is being sued by a law student over Siri’s sponsored responses.
A law student is suing the world’s most valuable firm due to Siri’s response to questions such as “what’s the best smartphone/tablet ever”. It suggests that Apple’s devices are the best with responses including “The one you’re holding” for the best smartphone question, while the best tablet question triggers a response of “There is only iPad”.
It wasn’t always like that, of course; Siri had once named the Lumia 900 the best smartphone ever based on web customer reviews, with Apple later making the answer to favor the iPhone.
PocketNow explains:
One of our law-student Pocketnow readers decided to sue Apple about this on-device false advertising simply out of principle.
Sean DeVries’ goal is to get Apple to at least change their website and end user agreement to include this information though an indicator of “sponsored responses” would be best during Siri’s answers.
Sean’s court date is scheduled for October 9th.
