The iPhone 5 is the most pre-ordered phone of all time for the UK’s largest independent mobile retailer, Carphone Warehouse.
Carphone Warehouse confirmed to Pocket-Lint that the iPhone 5 is most pre-ordered phone in the history of the business. The firm has experience more than four times as many pre-orders for the soon-to-be-released iOS device than any other handset release since then retailer began trading back in 1989.
Graham Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer at Carphone Warehouse, said:
Last week’s pre orders for the iPhone 5 smashed all previous handset launches at Carphone Warehouse.
The firm also noted that “two thirds of the increased mobile traffic came from iPhones and iPads suggesting current iPhone users are keen to upgrade.”
Apple, meanwhile, has also experience record breaking figures for the iPhone 5′s pre-orders; the smartphone sold over two million units in 24 hours, doubling the record held by its predecessor, the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 5 itself releases tomorrow at 8 AM in the UK and US.
