A new report came out about the iPhone 7 by TrendForce, noting that Apple will edge closer to that of Samsung smartphone market share in 2016 by continuing to advance the iPhone with features found on high-end Android devices.

Now, before we start this rumor, it is best to take a grain of salt with analyst Avril Wu of TrendForce, who believes that the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will sport 3GB of RAM. This would mean Apple would increase the iPhone 7 RAM up by one after the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus debuted this year.

In addition, the iPhone 7 is said to sport dustproof and waterproof capabilities, along with a tougher design than the current models. Moreover, the analyst noted that…

“The major selling points of the next iPhone will be the 3GB memory upgrade for the 5.5-inch model and waterproof feature.”

The analyst believes that the iPhone 7 will make its debut sometime in the second half of 2016, and will move about 260 million iPhone shipments in total through next year. According to those numbers, that would be an annual growth of 12.5% and a market share of 18.5%.

Wu also noted that…

“With the smartphone market becoming less profitable, iPhone will still have the highest margin next year compared with products from rival vendors.”

Finally, Wu also joins the iPhone 6c rumor with KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo and IHS’s Kevin Wang in predicting that the 4-inch “iPhone 6c” will hit stores shelves in the second quarter of next year.
