On Thursday, Apple announced a new trade-in program that will make upgrading to the latest iPhone easier and more affordable than ever before.
The new program Trade Up With Installments, will allow users to trade an older device, whether it’s an iPhone or any other smartphone, to the latest iPhone on an affordable plan. Users can get a newer model for as little as $15 a month. However, the amount will fluctuate depending on the trade-in value of the consumer’s device and the phone they wish to upgrade to.
The new program is a build on Apple’s existing upgrade program which launched back in September. Apple’s current upgrade program allowed eligible consumers to upgrade to an iPhone 6s for $32 a month for 24 months or to an iPhone 6s Plus for $36 a month for 24 months.
As a price example of the new program, users with an iPhone 4 looking to upgrade to an iPhone 5S will pay $14.58 a month. Those with an iPhone 6 moving to a iPhone 6s will only have to pay $14.54. However, if you prefer Apple will give you an instant Apple Store credit for your phone ranging from $100 to $350 depending on your phone’s condition.
The new trade-in program will even allow for damaged iPhones to be traded-in, but the trade-in value will be less. It should be noted that the phone being traded-in under the program must be fully paid for.
