An internal Apple survey back in 2010 that was used in the ongoing Samsung trial found that the OS was not why consumers would choose an Android smartphone over an iPhone.
The predominant reason they found – accounting for 48% of the people surveyed, nearly half – had nothing to do with Google’s operating system, but due to customer loyalty and satisfaction with their current carrier (via The Verge). The study was conducted before Verizon Wireless launched the iPhone last year.
The survey also revealed that 36% of those surveyed trusted Googole, while 30% preferred a large display on their device, 27% preferred the Android Market a, 26% wanted better integration with Google’s services and 25% were technophiles interested in the latest smartphone.
