The rivalry between Apple’s iPhone 5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S3 continues to surge on, as a new report suggests that despite a $1 billion dollar court loss against Apple and the launch of the iPhone 5 in September, the Galaxy S3 mobile phone still surged on with strong sales.
Mercury News reports that Localytics has been analyzing sales trends since earlier this summer regarding the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5, and according to their findings the Galaxy S3 has been hitting strides even in the face of seeming insurmountable market competition from the Apple.
The first surge is reported to have taken place between August 21st and August 27th, the same week that the jury awarded Apple the patent case for a massive $1.07 billion against Samsung. The second string of sales spurts came between September 11th and September 17th, the same week the iPhone 5 launched. The reason for the sales boost was because of all the comparisons between the iPhone 5 versus the Galaxy S3, reports Localytics.
The third bump in sales is reported to have taken place between September 18th and September 24th, due to a strong marketing campaign by Samsung that helped sway on-the-fence consumers thanks to clever advertising. Of course, this was an independent study and Samsung has yet to release the official sales stats for the Galaxy S3 during those time periods.
