There have been rumors circulating around on what Microsoft is planning for its Office software. They are obviously working on a Windows 8 version, but there have also been rumors of it coming to iOS and Android. These rumors were seemingly confirmed at a conference in the Czech Republic.
The Microsoft Czech ‘Republic team put out a press release that confirmed the availability of Microsoft Office for iOS and Android coming in March 2013. It also stated, “In addition to Windows, Office will be also available on other operating systems. Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian.” Furthermore, it noted that there would be a new version of Office Web Apps as well. In addition, the press release said that it Office 2013 would be made available to businesses by December of this year.
Now that sounds all well and good. The only problem is that later on Microsoft proper released the following statement:
The information shared by our Czech subsidiary is not accurate. We do not have anything further to share at this time.
Now while there may be some kernel of truth regarding Microsoft’s future plans in the Czech department’s screw up, nothing can be assumed. Though the original press release was a little ridiculous. Symbian? The operating system Nokia abandoned in favor of Windows?
