On Wednesday, Samsung announced it was launching a 4-inch mini version of the Galaxy S III at an event this Thursday. German site MobileGeeks has revealed the leaked specs.
Now while the screen is the same size as the iPhone 5, the new Samsung phone would have a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels. This is compared to the iPhone 5’s 1,136×640 pixel screen resolution. The new Samsung phone is expected to have a 5 megapixel camera, again it falls short of the iPhone 5’s 8 megapixel camera.
The Galaxy Mini is also set to feature a dual-core STE U8420 chip running at 1-gigahertz. It is a bit of a step down from the quad-core Exynos processor in the international version of the Galaxy S III. The new Galaxy phone is also set to have a gigabyte of RAM, 16 gigabytes of flash memory and an expandable MicroSD card slot. The phone will run Jelly Bean – Android’s latest offering.
Given the general downgrade of the stats, the phone is expected to run a bit cheaper than its counterparts. The estimated price tag at the moment is around 323 Euros ($399). This is converted from some Austrian stores that are pricing it 390-540 Swiss Francs.
