Apple’s unscripted reality TV show about apps and the developers who created the apps has just recently finalized in filming the reality TV series.
Back in July of 2016, Apple posted an open casting looking for developers from the San Francisco, Austin, New York, and Los Angeles area, over 100,000 app developers applied, but only 100 were chosen for the final show appearance. The show was geared close to the way the TV series Shark Tank is set-up, participants had four rounds to present their developed app to the judges, who in turn would critique and vote on what app developer had the best app, and the finalist chosen could receive up to $10 million in investment to turn their idea into a reality app, which in turn will appear in the App Store at the finish of the TV series.
The producers of Planet of the Apps are William Adams (a.k.a – will.i.am), Howard Owens, and Ben Silverman. The show also brought on featured celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gary Vaynerchuk to mentor the contestants.
Apple built the set which was held near Hollywood, the set was said to be quite tech chic, and the decor and decoration was nicely done, once the filming was complete, Apple disassembled the set. At this time, Apple has not released an air show date yet, hopefully the series will air sometime in 2017.
