As time draws closer to September, more speculation about Apple’s upcoming iPhones has been popping up. A few days ago, a report was released claiming that the iPhone 7S Plus might feature a couple of iPhone 8 features.
Apple is expected to release three new iPhones this year in honor of the smartphone’s 10th anniversary. So far, these smartphones have been dubbed the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and the iPhone 8 (sometimes called the iPhone x or iPhone Edition). The iPhone 8 is said to sport an all new design, an OLED display, wireless charging, better waterproofing, an embedded fingerprint scanner and AR functionality. However, the iPhone 8 may launch sometime in December and cost over $1000.
For those who don’t want to wait and want to save a few hundred dollars, might be pleased to know that the iPhone 7S Plus will sport a couple of the same features as the iPhone 8. A report by Nikkei claims that the CEO of Wistron said that the 5.5-inch iPhone will also feature waterproof and wireless charging.
Wistron, a Taiwanese company that assembles the iPhone, has been assembling the iPhone SE and iPhone 6 in India for Apple and has been given the task of assembling the upcoming 5.5-inch iPhone. In a shareholders’ meeting last week, CEO Robert Hwang told reporters, “assembly process for the previous generations of smartphones have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and the waterproofing will alter the assembly process a bit.”
Talk has it that the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus will both feature Apple’s new A11 chip processor which is faster than the A10 Fusion processor, and ship in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options.
