Tension rises as word is spreading like wildfire that Google is prepping to release their new map app onto the iTunes app store for the iPhone 5. The app will apparently fix all that’s wrong with Apple’s own map app and then some.
In a lengthy rundown of the app’s promising features and highlights, The Wall Street Journal also makes it clear that Apple doesn’t seem all too delighted about Google’s new map service, as they declined to comment about the app and have stated that they don’t talk about apps that haven’t been approved. Ouch.
Google on the other hand seems much more friendly about the matter, with a spokesman saying…
“We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system.”
No word on the final release date since it hasn’t been approved yet, but we can all expect it to arrive sooner rather than later.
