HTC CEO says Company is Happy With Apple Settlement

HTC’s CEO Peter Chou is happy with their settlement with Apple that ends a 2 year long legal battle, but refuses to release any details about it.

There has been much speculation about the deal reached between the two companies  Samsung is desperate to know what is in it as well. Analysts have speculated that HTC agreed to pay between $6-$8 per handset, which could mean $3 billion over ten years.

HTC CEO Peter Chou has this to say:

I think that these estimates are baseless and very, very wrong. It is a outrageous number, but I’m not going to comment anything on a specific number. I believe we have a very, very happy settlement and a good ending.

It is very difficult to tell who had the upper hand throughout negotiations. While Apple had won some victories again HTC, in turn HTC has been collecting patents from their S3 purchase and even borrowed some from Google. Whatever the case it ended one mega court battle. Pity the other one won’t reach any sort of settlement soon.
