Several reports are stating that iPhone X owners are experiencing “crackling” or a “buzzing sound” deriving from the handset’s front-facing earpiece speaker.
The most recent reports coming from over two dozen iPhone X users have started surfacing on Twitter, and Reddit regarding their iPhone being affected by crackling sounds occurring with any kind of audio playback, including phone calls, music, videos with sounds, alarms, and ringtones.
The iPhone X’s earpiece traditional speaker also works to deliver stereo sound which comes from the bottom of the device. Some users believe the distortion of the sound seems to occur when it’s at higher volume only, other users are convinced that there could be another problem with the software or hardware that is affecting the earpiece.
It seems reports from users that are affected by this issue are stating that Apple has been replacing affected iPhone X units free of charge, as well as, collecting diagnostic information for its engineers to investigate the matter in detail, this issue seems to be only affecting a small number of iPhone X users.
If anyone is experiencing this issue, make a Genius Bar appointment with the Apple Support app or contact Apple by phone, email, online chat, or Twitter to have the iPhone X replaced.
