Musician Will.i.am is launching a 14-megapixel camera attachment for the iPhone next week via his new consumer electronics venture.
Essentially, it replaces the iPhone’s built-in iSight camera with a 14-megapixel sensor that clips on. It is suppose to provide dramatically enhanced clarity and definitions to your pictures. In addition, it also has its own built-in flash that is an improvement over the iPhone’s.
Will.i.am told Georgia Dehn of The Telegraph how he came up with the idea. He was at a photo shoot in London in 2008.
I was just hanging out afterwards, and one of the models took an iPhone picture, which circulated the planet before the shoot was even over.
I took one of the photographer’s lenses and held it up on my phone and said “imagine this one day”. Then I said: “I’m going to do this.”
The accessory will be announced at a media event next week in London. Price and availability are not yet known.
