If you had hopes of purchasing Apple’s HomePod this year, you’ll have to wait a little longer since the device has been delayed until next year.
It seems as if the HomePod has been giving Apple some problems and won’t be ready to launch for the holiday season. The speaker was supped to launch this December for $349, but Apple has informed several sites, including the Verge, that it needs a little more time before releasing the device to the public.
“We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple’s breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers,” said an Apple spokesperson. “We’ll start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018.”
Apple’s smart speaker will compete with other smart speakers such as Google Home and Amazon Echo. HomePod features a seven-speaker array of tweeters, a six-microphone array, and a four-inch subwoofer, which offers users a rich listen experience. On top of all of that, users will have Siri as their virtual assistant to help them with their needs.
It’s not exactly clear when Apple will release the HomePod in 2018 since the company left it as vague as “early 2018.” Hopefully, Apple will be able to work out all the kinks without making its fans wait too long for the device.
