The latest report regarding Apple’s iPad line-up has it that Apple might introduce an affordable 9.7-inch iPad for either early or mid-2018.
According to DigiTimes, Apple could be considering introducing an entry-level affordable 9.7-inch iPad for 2018. The whole idea behind bringing on a new affordable iPad is to attract more demand from price-oriented consumers while maintaining its current tablet shipment of 10 million units in a quarter.
For the most part, it seems Apple has been doing fairly well in the iPad arena, November earnings reported double-digit unit growth sales for the iPad in the second consecutive quarter. Apple reported sales of 11.4 million iPads, which was an increase of 15 percent compared to last year’s second-quarter earnings.
It seems overall, the tablet market worldwide has slightly begun to decline in the beginning of 2017, causing a weakening in sales, which has also caused most second and third brand vendors to step out the market arena of selling tablets. With the fast pace of electronic devices changing rapidly, Apple has decided to try a price strategy of marketing a more affordable iPad that could sell for around $259 USD. The company would also like to branch out with this affordable 9.7-inch iPad to service industrial and service sectors as well.
