Apple Now Selling Unlocked iPhone 5

by William Usher on

The iPhone 5 is now officially available and unlocked from Apple. The starting price of an unlocked iPhone is nothing to scoff at, though, as it’ll run you a minimum of $649.99.

According to the SFGate Apple is now selling the unlocked version of the iPhone 5 on their official website starting with the 16GB unit at $649.99, the 32GB model at $749.99 and the 64GB model at $849.99.

As stated on Apple’s website…

“The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a wireless contract commitment,”…“If you don’t want a multiyear service contract, or if you prefer to use a local carrier when traveling abroad, the unlocked iPhone is the best choice.”

Unfortunately you won’t be able to pick up an unlocked iPhone 5 at any retailers and Apple is the only one selling them, assuming you’re willing to pay a minimum of what most people pay rent on a monthly basis for a mobile handset.
