Apple Fights to Use iPhone in Brazil

Ronin iPhone 5 Case

Apple recently lost a trademark case to use the name iPhone in South America, namely Brazil. However, Apple isn’t taking the fight lying down.

According to Forbes, Apple is still planning on fighting the denial of the iPhone trademark in Brazil, which has been won over by IGB Electronica, a native Brazilian tech giant who has laid claim to the iPhone trademark since 2000.

Forbes doesn’t have high hopes for Apple winning back the trademark from IGB, formerly known as Gradiente, but it’s not unlikely for Apple to attempt to pay off the company to gain hold of the trademark, as it would be quite odd trying to sell their iPhone in Brazil as a uPhone or an ePhone.
