iPhone 5′s Purported 30-Pin Adapter Shown in Concept Image

We already know that Apple is using a smaller connector for the new iPhone, but we couldn’t help but question what users with older cables would do. A new concept has been worked up showing what Apple’s 30-pin adapter could look like.

It’s easy to admit that we are a little apprehensive about Apple’s adoption of a new, smaller, connector for the iPhone 5. Sure, we get why it is necessary, and we knew that it was bound to happen eventually, but it’s hard to imagine what users of older Apple devices were to do with their older cables and accessories. There is no promise that there will even be an adapter created to facilitate the continued use of the 30-pin adapter, but it would be terribly inconvenient to carry around multiple connector cables just because you own an iPhone 5.

What if Apple were to make it a little more convenient though? There have been reports that a 30-pin adapter may be in the works, and now there is a concept rendered by mela tech blog (via iDownloadBlog) that gives us a look at what this sort of adapter may look like. One thing to keep in mind when looking at these renders is that there is no actual evidence that this is the look of Apple’s 30-pin adapter, but merely a creative rendition of what it may look like.

We can only hope that such an adapter is in the works from Apple. Without something like this, we may see millions of Apple and third party accessories become obsolete literally overnight.
