The vacation blackouts for Verizon line up perfectly with the rumored launch of the iPhone 5. It seems that Verizon wants its entire staff available for this momentous release.
Tech Crunch received word of the blackout today by way of a Verizon employee that the carrier is planning on being on full staff from September 21st to the 30th. The timeframe on this blackout coincidentally lines up with the rumored launch date of the iPhone 5. This, of course, suggests that the blackout timing is more than coincidence.
Blackouts like this have been imposed before. Previous iPhone launches, and launches of other Apple products, have led carriers like Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint have all held vacation blackouts in preparation of the new devices. Commonly, these blackout dates aren’t set in stone, instead changing with Apple’s plans on new device launches. We may or may not see an extension on Verizon’s iPhone 5 launch vacation blackout.
