iPhone 5′s Screen Goes Into Mass Production

The iPhone 5 is going to use a thinner display, we have images of the front panel and patents that evidence that, but it was previously undetermined who was making said displays. Could LG’s sudden mass production of its thinner in-cell mean that LG is the one making the iPhone 5 display?

The displays area thinner type of screen that may use in-cell technology, the very same technology outlined in a recent patent filing by Apple. Current generation iPhones use multiple layers in their displays – one layer handles touch sensing, while the other is the actual LCD display – but the new in-cell displays combine the two layers, allowing for a thinner display overall.

Images of the screen have already been posted online, but they lack any kind of indicator that the posted screen was manufactured by LG, though it is interesting that these new displays are coming into mass production just one month before the rumored launch of the iPhone 5.
