The long awaited iOS 6 jailbreak dubbed “evasi0n” has been officially announced by iOS hacker pod2g. In this tweet pod2g has also announced the official website for the evad3rs, evasi0n.com.
Although not much is available within the website, aside from a progress bar. We now know that any device that is capable of running iOS 6 will be able to be jailbroken. This includes the newly released iPhone 5, iPhone 5G, iPad Mini and the 4th Generation iPad.
As always the tool will support Mac OSX, Windows and Linux. There is no definite date on when the tool is going to be available as it still needs to go through a private beta but the evasi0n website has included a set of requirements to be able to use the jailbreak tool:
- 5 minutes of your time!
- A computer, running Windows (XP minimum), Mac OS X (10.5 minimum) or Linux (x86 / x86_64)
- An iPhone, iPad or iPod running iOS 6.0 through 6.1 (you may check in Settings / General / About => Version)
