The good news keeps on coming for Apple’s finances. Last week, Apple revealed it had sold 26.9 million iPhones in the last three months. That’s an increase of 58% over the same period last year, surpassing analysts’ expectations slightly.

Who’s ready for numbers? Thursday, Verizon, the largest US carrier, reported it activated 3.1 million iPhones in the third quarter – the three-month period ending on September 30th. About 650,000 were iPhone 5s, meaning the iPhone 5 accounts for a little over 1 in every 5 iPhones sold.

Apple’s iPhone 5 released last month to huge acclaim. It’s setting records on phone sales and beating Apple’s own personal best soundly. Now it’s so huge that it is more than likely to impact the total retail sale numbers for the month.
